REFUERZO MATES, LENGUA E INGLÉS.

¡Hola sextitos y sextitas!

25/03/2020 - English Speaking

Good morning kids!

This week, your assignment for our speaking zone is the following... You need to record a video of yourself talking about what you are doing at home to keep yourself busy and active.

Your video should last for approximately 1 minute and be sure to use the correct tenses. Remember, If an activity is part of your routine, use the present simple. If it's something you did yesterday or last week as a one off, use the past simple. When talking about a plan or something you might do in the future, use the future tenses (will or going to). You've studied all these tenses in class so check your notebooks if you have any doubts.

When you have finished your video, send it to my email address (paul.dry@gaudem.es). The deadline for this assignment is Friday at 17:00.

Enjoy the rest of the week and I look forward to receiving your work.

Take care.

Paul

¡Tenemos muchas ganas de verte!

ECHA UN OJO A LA GUÍA QUE ESTÁ DEBAJO DE LA ACTIVIDAD =)

That's English - 23rd - 27th March

Good morning kids!

Hope you had a good weekend. Now it's back to the grind for another week!

This week's That's English task is related to boredom. Bearing in mind the current situation we find ourselves in, I thought it was quite a relevant topic!

To begin, click on the following link...

https://learnenglishteens.britishcouncil.org/study-break/video-zone/cure-boredom

The topic of the activity is boredom, why we get bored and a possible solution to the problem of boredom.

Before you watch the video though, you need to click on preparation. Here you need to link the words and short phrases to their definitions. Use a dictionary if you need to. When you're done, click on finish to see how you did.

Next up, the video. You can select subtitles and slow the video down if you feel you need to. Listen carefully and watch twice.

The next task is to check your understanding by putting the parts of the video in the order that they were mentioned. Again, when complete, click finished to see how you got on.

Lastly, you are given some different activities that you need to categorise in two columns. The options you have are either activities to distract yourself from boredom or, activities to meditate. As before, click on finish to get your result.

I hope you enjoy the activities and who knows, maybe it can help us to deal with boredom during these difficult times we are facing at present.

Good luck and have a nice week!

Paul

Voluntary That's English Art Competition

Attention!
Voluntary That's English Art Competition.
Deadline 27th March
All entries to be sent to paul.dry@gaudem.es with the heading That's English Art Competition

I fully understand that you are probably under a lot of pressure right now to complete assignments and the last thing I want to do is add to that pressure. However, for those creative souls out there who have a bit of spare time on their hands, this is a voluntary exercise you may enjoy. It's a drawing/writing competition.

To enter the competition, you have to draw a picture of whatever you like, from something you can see (for example, the view from your window) to something from your imagination. You are free to draw whatever you like, within reason!

When you have your drawing, you need to send it to me via email (paul.dry@gaudem.es) including an attached copy of the drawing (just take a clear photo of the drawing and attach the image) along with a short text (between 25 and 50 words) explaining what the picture represents and your inspiration behind it. The more interesting and different the picture, the better!

The deadline for this assignment is Friday 27th March. A winner will be announced shortly after.

Like I said, this is not an obligatory assignment, but please feel free to take part if you wish. I look forward to seeing your creative work.

Good luck!

Paul

Saint Patrick's Day (That's English)

That's English Saint Patrick's Day task

Your task for this week (16-20 of March) is to read the following text about Saint Patrick's Day which will be celebrated next week, and to then answer the question in the Google Forms document below. The deadline for this activity is Friday 20th of March.

Saint Patrick’s Day

Saint Patrick’s Day is on March 17th and has become the day when people around the world celebrate Irish culture. Saint Patrick is the Catholic Patron Saint of Ireland and is often associated with symbols of Ireland such as the shamrock and the colour green.

Who was Saint Patrick?

Patrick was an Englishman who was captured as a boy by pirates and sold into slavery in Ireland. He managed eventually to escape and made his way to France where he studied to become a priest. When he was made a bishop he was sent back to Ireland to spread the Christian faith among the tribes there.
One story tells of Patrick getting rid of all the snakes in Ireland by praying. A more likely story is how he explained the Christian belief of the Trinity or the idea that God is three in one - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit - by using a shamrock with its three parts. The shamrock is now the emblem of Ireland.
Celebration of Saint Patrick
Some people believe that Saint Patrick died on 17 March, 460 AD. Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated around the world, wherever people of Irish descent live. Some of the biggest celebrations take place in the United States. In particular in New york and Chicago. In Chicago, the river that runs through the city is even turned green!

Now, complete the Google forms questions based on what you have already read. Remember to log in to your Google account prior to completing the form otherwise your work won't be registered correctly. Good luck!
